What Happens at the Pantry
At the Irving Park Community Food Pantry, we strive to provide caring, consistent quality of service and an equitable distribution of available Pantry resources to all clients regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
- Our clients are able to receive food once a month unless there is an emergency situation.
- All clients are interviewed upon arrival.
- Proof of current residence is required.
- The food that is distributed is bagged by our volunteers based on the number of people in the client's household.
- In addition to food, the pantry is able to refer clients to other social service agencies which may assist them with their current situation.
- In addition to food, at times the pantry is able to distribute other items such as toiletries, diapers, blankets, hats, gloves and socks. Clients are asked to tell the interviewer if they are in need of these items.
- The Pantry also has special distribution days for our regular clients at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also distribute school supplies during the month of August to eligible clients.
- The Pantry holds nutrition seminars for clients during the year. Clients must register for these in advance.
